Today I was asked by a client if I could set him up with a great ecommerce website next to nothing. So I did what every great and busy developer does, checked themeforest for a nice ecommerce theme. I came up with GoodStore, a outstanding wordpress eCommerce theme integrated with WooCommerce.
Here is my tought process of choosing GoodStore as my nr.1 WordPress wooCommerce theme. When the client came to me, he wanted a nice and cheap eCommerce solution, but also wanted a place where he could blog about clothes and jewelry that the famous people are wearing.
Imediately I made a simple connection, a nice WordPress theme integrate with wooCommerce. So I fired up google and looked at what the trends are when it comes to a ecommerce platform, and I found this article written by Adrian Try in Envato’s trend spotting blog.
Adrian talks about a poll made with envato marketeers and users to vote the best 4 ecommerce platforms for 2013 – 2014. The one that stood out was WooCommerce with a staggering 48.02% followed by OpenCart with 12.78% and Magento with 12.33%.
Imediately I made my decision and opened themeforest for a nice theme. First I got to the eCommerce category on the marketplace clicked on the WooCommerce subcategory and made a filter to sort the items by price to see which is the cheapest available. The price was starting from 45$, not bad for early project. But then I wanted to see the popular ones and sort trough a rating filter. Immediately GoodStore caught my eye and I saved the link to it.
Then I wanted to see a list with the most sales from them all and made a sale filter. Right on the first page, there was GoodStore with 477 purchases (at the time of the writing), a reasonable number of sales illustrating that it was popular.
I really wanted to see this template that was at a very good price (55$), very popular with the user rating (4.8 stars) and was racking near 500 sales.
Why I made the decision to choose GoodStore
With the research done, I was ready to see what the template had to offer, and I was stunned. Right off the bat, the creator of the theme, jawtemplates who in fact is a elite author on the themeforest marketplace offered Free theme and demo content installation. BOOM 1 day of work done.
Next I wanted to see the various features the author was offering so I made a detail explanation below.
16 predefined business styles
The first thing that I saw when I opened the preview was 16 predefined customizable styles. It ranged from a clothing store to a business ecommerce style. This alone saved the client hundreds of dollars in customizations and saved me valuable time in doing them.
In the theme description I saw that the theme was supporting RevoComposer, a nice drag and drop page builder for wordpress specifically configured to work with GoodStore. You can drag and drop to build your pages, live preview on every component, save your configured presets and more. Another hundred bucks saved by the client and a few hours of work for me.
Sliders and SEO
The theme is packed with Slider Revolution and jAW premium slider another 30$ save at this point. Easy configurable plugins. Also the theme was uber-ready to work with Yoast’s SEO plugin bringing you clients from day 1.
Tutorials and new features
In the new updates, jawtemplates added a new lookbook slider, catalog mode and product bundles. Also I was pleased that there were video tutorials so I can configure everything as fast as possible. Another few hours saved on my part.
Mobile view and retina support
I was pleased that there was a uber-responsive layout for all pages and all graphics and text was retina ready.
Next I want to show you a list of small (but important) features that the theme provides.
